The Irie continue reggae rise with their incredibly catchy self-titled album
The Irie continue their reggae rise with the new incredibly catchy self-titled album. Wow, this album is so amazing! I love the Phoenix band’s unique ability to blend reggae, rock and pop, and their latest album will help you promptly get any party started!
Some bands have a unique ability to quickly grab a listener’s full attention and The Irie are just that! The album kicks off with the banger, “Everyday”, a masterclass in songwriting, production and good vibes. Guitarist and vocalist, George Ruiz drops such fun and feel good lyrics and vocals and I love the way Ruiz, drummer, Johnny Groove, and bassist, Marcus Mapes stay in sync. Their cohesion as a band allows them to bring such a clean pop sound to their smooth reggae rock.
The album follows up the band’s 2022 album, “Planet Paradise”, which is another stellar album from the band and all reggae rock fans need to listen to it as well!
“City Nights”, which features Mouse Powell, adds some electronic elements that are so fun, and then seamlessly transition into an irie bass line. You’ll feel Ruiz’s silky vocals, and Groove’s jamming drums as well. Add this one to your road trip playlist and feel instantly re-energized.
In “Hey Girl” the band teams with The Kaleidoscope Kid and once again showcases its versatility. When you hear this song you’ll also hear a hip hop vibe. This is such a fun love song and has a rad guitar solo.
The Irie push away any negativity with “Hands Up”. I really love Ruiz’s hook in this killer track, and the horns make this song so dance friendly.
Upbeat drumming, a pitch perfect hook, and fun / inviting lyrics make “Wanted You Bad” another irresistible song that showcases The Irie’s powerful sound that will make any reggae fan proud.
Summer has officially arrived and The Irie’s “Summer Smile” is a great pick to get the party and good vibes flowing on the daily! Enjoy these nine superb tracks, and a smile will stay glued on your face!
