When you hear roots reggae, you instantly connect with an irie bass line, the lyrics standing up for people’s rights, and the sound of peace and love. Roots reggae remains strong in 2023 and we fell in love with some of these new LPs.

Reggae sparks creativity, empowers action and brings us closer together. The amount of amazing songs dropped in 2023 has been absolutely incredible to follow along with. These are the tracks that spoke loudest to us!

A large number of jamming reggae EPs were released this year - many ranging from three to five tracks. A solid EP tells a story that has a listener on the edge of their seat, or at the very least maintains a compelling theme and feel throughout.

As reggae continues to grow in popularity, the roster of top reggae talent expands worldwide. This year, we saw amazing up-and-coming reggae talent and the convergence of reggae, rock, punk rock, and hip hop.

2023 was a massive year for reggae music, and the power of reggae was strongly felt around the world. This year, we really connected with the pollination of reggae crossing musical genres. The trend has made even more people fall in love with reggae!

Get lost in love again with Jah Cure’s “One More Time (Doncorleon Remix)”. The Jamaican artist showcases his vocals over the relaxing riddim and teamed with Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett on the track.

The Steppas stand up for their beliefs and community in “Hear Dat”. The Hawaiin reggae band teamed with Jamaica’s Irie Yute Tapes in this jam that sends a loud call to action for the government to take action and help people live a better life.

Pacific Dub sets “Smell The Roses Tour” dates ft. Dale and the Zdubs. The nationwide tour kicks off in March and runs through early April and has Pacific Dub, the Southern California reggae rockers, teaming with the up-and-coming D.C. reggae meets punk rock band, Dale and the Zdubs.

Focus on staying in the present while thinking into the future with “3AM” by Father of the Vibe ft. Taye McQueen. Daily Reggae caught up with Father of the Vibe frontman, David Fowler, the former songwriter and keyboardist for Echo Movement to learn about his jamming new music project. The creativity and genre crossing pulse of this track is so rad!

Following last year’s inaugural Daily Reggae “Best Of” Awards, the Daily Reggae team is excited to announce the second annual Daily Reggae “Best Of” Awards.

“Stay True” highlights Khalia’s growth and amazing voice. The seven track EP released by Ineffable Records blends reggae, pop and R&B and is an all around amazing vibe. Big things are ahead for the Jamaican singer - no doubt!

Song of the Week: Switch Up feat. Koffee. Protoje is back with a special release, In Search Of Zion, a Reinterpretation of His 2020 LP In Search Of Lost Time. The artist called on the production team Zion I Kings to create unique and soulful twists on his past tracks.

Get into the holiday spirit with Artikal Sound System’s “Happy Holidays” album due out Nov. 24. It’s so rad the Florida reggae rockers chose to do this and put a fun reggae spin on holiday hits like “Jingle Bell Rock”, “Last Christmas”, “Feliz Navidad”, and “Eight Days of Hanukkah”.

Drop everything and listen to Cas Haley’s “Boots Rock Reggae, Vol. 1”! Haley is one of the most talented musicians in today’s music world and this review is way over due! Haley brilliantly connects reggae, country and rock in this must-listen gem of an album!

The Resolvers have dropped an empowering new “This Man” music video starring Sahara Smith. The South Florida reggae band continues releasing irie new tunes, and teamed with Chance Rajkowski of Second Mile Media to bring the stunning music video to life.

Sam Johnson emphasizes the importance of looking beyond the non believers in “Don't Follow Your Dreams”. This song has such a chill vibe, and I love Johnson’s vocals and overall energy!

Daily Reggae had the chance to interview the brilliant artist, Romain Virgo about the singer-songwriter’s amazing new single, “Switch You On”, a great run of recent shows in the UK, and new music that he’s excited to release soon.

Justin Vidal puts a must-listen reggae spin on Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”. I always love listening to Vidal’s music and this is such a rad cover that teams the artsit with a former bandmate, Christina Mansour and MC, Chico Linx.

Slightly Stoopid is back and they brought their friends Stick Figure and Pepper! The legends came together for the new song ‘Got Me On The Run’. The track immediately draws you in with a classic Stoopid horn line and riddim, and the catchy flow is made that much better by the appearances by Stick and Pepper.

Congrats to the 2024 GRAMMY Nominees for Best Reggae Album! All of the nominations are so well deserved. It’s so cool to see the great mix of artists nominated including Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Collie Buddz, Burning Spear and Julian Marley & Anteaus.
