The Daily Reggae “Best Of” Awards are a look back at some of the best moments of 2022. From your favorite artists, best albums, biggest tracks, and memorable festivals, the reggae community is filled with talented people and artists. This is our humble selection. This year, we chose a winner representing the following categories.

Ballyhoo! has dropped dates for the band’s upcoming “Sleepin On The Couch” Tour featuring Mike Pinto, Audic Empire, Joint Operation, Joey Harkum, and CLoud9 Vibes on select dates!

Lopaka Rootz HI in I, Josh Heinrichs and SkillinJah celebrate a “Harvest” in an irie new single. The Hawaii-based artist teamed up with Heinrichs and SkillinJah and I’m vibing with the laid back feel. I especially dig the keys and message of slowing down and enjoying life.

I’ve been digging The Holdup for years. It might have started when my friend sent me their song, “Girls Love Toast”. When you think of The Holdup you think of super catchy reggae rock with hints of R&B and hip hop. The Holdup’s new single, “Still Looking For Love” is their latest super catchy song and highlights the amazing voice and production that Michael Garmany brings to the table.

Following openings in London and Toronto, the Bob Marley One Love Experience is coming to Los Angeles on January 27 and tickets are available on Dec. 7. If you’re a reggae fan visiting this exhibit is a no brainer; it sounds super cool!

Inside the Mind has released a chill new song titled “Foreign Land” about exploring love and relationships. The single highlights Darrin Williams’ songwriting, energy and a grooving convergence of reggae and dub that will surely inspire your next trip!

Slow down and vibe to “Lovely” by Analea Brown off the “Lovers Lake Riddim” album. Analea has one of the most amazing voices in reggae music today and you’ll totally feel this gorgeous love song!

Rik Jam and Janeel Mills inspire us to reach for the stars in “When My Time Comes”. The jamming single is an Irie Yute Tapes production and showcases the immense vocal talents of Jam and Mills! Irie Yute Tapes continues to make a huge name for the label and its founder Phillip McFarlane is proving himself as a true triple threat - artist (keyboardist for EarthKry), producer, and director. The single’s amazing music video shot by McFarlane was filmed in Houston and New York.

Collie Buddz has dropped 2023 dates for a national tour kicking off at Cali Vibes in February. The tour will run through the end of March and feature The Elovaters and Arise Roots on select dates. Collie brings so much energy to his performances and his catalog of reggae hits will have you singing all night long! Arise Roots joins Collie for the majority of the tour and The Elovaters will team up during several Florida shows!

Now I’ve said it before, but today’s article deserves another call out. Today’s global reggae music scene has so much talent, it’s amazing! Rebelution guitarist Kyle Ahern is one of these ultra talented artists, who has quickly risen as one of reggae’s most talented guitarists. Ahern shows off his cross-genre musical ear, songwriting chops and production talent with the release of the country rock album, “The Older I Get”.

HIRIE, Thrive, and Ethan Tucker will headline the first annual Ayotl Beach Festival, which will be held December 1 - 4 in Mexico’s Mayto Beach. If you’re looking for a last minute musical getaway this experience looks incredible! Pacific Music Company and High Point Music teamed up to organize the event and some tickets are still available for purchase.

When you read Triple Thread’s bio, you’re struck by the band’s nationwide beginnings as three out of the five band members grew up outside of California. Inspiration struck and what started as a journey west began to feel like home and this excitement and energy is what I hear when I listen to the Orange County reggae rock band’s debut album, “Feels Like Home”.

Green Lion Crew’s star-studded “Riddim Full of Culture” is an impressive collection of top notch tracks featuring many of reggae’s brightest stars! The album has a mix of solo tracks along with riddims where two artists will put their unique spins creating separate songs. Green Lion Crew made up of Zeke Stern and Dana Knowles definitely brought production heat and made me a big fan of their work!

One Culture is an amazing Virginia Beach band bringing together the best of reggae, rock and dub. The band’s new album “Forward, Always” is inspiring in so many ways and I especially love the band’s thoughtful lyrics that transcend emotions and their impressive guitar playing throughout the record.

I’ve been listening to Iration for years and it’s inspiring to follow the band’s continued rise and consistent ability to release reggae, rock and pop blended music that brings fans an amazing sense of zen and happiness. The band’s new live album, “Backyard Sessions: Malibu Edition” shows off Iration’s togetherness, incredible songwriting and brings new life into fan favorite songs.

The new five track EP, “D’ Rootsman” gives a great glimpse into Hector Roots Lewis’ talent and energy. Lewis had a major year with the EP, released by Cre8ive Tribe / Ineffable Records, and his collaboration with Tribal Seeds.

SunDub proves they are one of reggae’s rising bands in the new album, “Spirits Eat Music”. Take the title track as an example. You’re immediately brought in by the horns, smooth reggae guitar and vocal star power of Joanna Teters. To me, the track is a reminder that we are surrounded by support systems and to keep an open mind and heart to the love that comes our way, especially in the form of music!

Hawaii’s Inna Vision always pushes himself as an artist and when you listen to his deep music catalog it’s so fun hearing his growth as a lyricist and vocalist. All of Inna Vision’s hard work is on full display in “Self Talk” and it’s my favorite of his reggae meets hip hop albums released to date.

Iya Terra has dropped the band’s “Life Is F*cking Beautiful Tour” dates with support along the way from fan favorites Artikal Sound System, Cas Haley, SunDub and Kyle Smith. The national tour kicks off in February in Long Beach at Cali Vibes and runs through mid-March wrapping in Jacksonville, Florida.
