TreeHouse! recently teamed up with Iya Terra’s Nick Sefakis and released an irie new song called Bring it to the Light. We are loving the vibes, super cool guitar riffs and positive message. Dailyreggae.com caught up with TreeHouse! lead singer and guitarist, Jeremy Anderson to learn more about the band’s collaboration with Nick, inspiration behind the song, and recent albums.

Tell us about Bring it to the Light. How did TreeHouse! and Nick work on the song together?

TreeHouse! and Iya Terra started doing shows together a few years ago when Iya was touring the East coast from Los Angeles. All the guys in Iya Terra were always very friendly and welcoming, and they would invite everyone else on the bill to jump up and feature on their set, so we got used to vibing together early on. Nick Sefakis has been producing his own solo project, as well as various other features and projects, for a while now, and I've been keeping up with his content with much admiration.

Fast forward to last fall, when full band touring didn't exist, and we were all forced to try something different. So, I jumped into an RV with my fiancé, Danielle (aka Trippin’Gypsy Tie Dye Artist), and we traveled across the country for three months while I picked up solo gigs and sought out collaboration opportunities.

When we got close to California, I reached out to Nick about working together on a track and scheduling a little time in his home studio. He was down for it, so we locked it in, but I only had one day to swing through on our trip. So, we got into the studio, and I quickly ran through three song ideas at different stages of development (because I wanted to leave them open for him to add his style). We honed the selection down to what was most vibing between the two of us and also the easiest flowing to tackle in our limited time frame.

"Bring it to the Light" brought itself to light in the studio that day, in the entire arrangement and most of the lyrics channeled directly on the spot. Nick was very intuitive in producing the track, where it should go, and how it could get there.

What was the inspiration behind the song?

"Bring it to the Light" is part of my ongoing philosophical approach to promote mindfulness and awareness through music, in the hope to further the endeavor of world enlightenment. I believe everything is connected, every issue goes much deeper than it seems on the surface, and most issues are rooted within deeper issues.

I believe that every challenge to growth, whether psychological, emotional, spiritual, societal or historical, needs to be fully "brought to light" in its truth, and we know the truth is rarely shining in front of us, and the truth is rarely free. It takes our diligence and determination in these matters to discern the truths between the lines.

Every message in front of us has the power of an intent behind it, pushing it toward us, and we need to examine the intent before we subject ourselves to the message. In a time of so much disinformation, the truth can be buried into darkness. All I feel like I have the power to do is to write a song about it.

Tell us more about TreeHouse! Where is the band based and are you planning to put out more music this year?

TreeHouse! is based out of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, I like to say somewhere between Jamaica and California. Though, we have members in Atlanta GA, Asheville NC, Boston MA, and beyond, as well as guest features from across the country.

We have toured nationally and made friends in every corner of the US and the Virgin Islands, and we love ever expanding to meet more people! The band is actually back together this week, for the first time in months, to work on more new material. I have hundreds of song ideas I've been working on, and we're starting to track them out soon. Plus, just like on this new single with Nick Sefakis, I have been traveling around the country collaborating with other artists who we may be featuring on new releases later this year. Though we have 3 official studio albums out, I feel like I am just getting started in my creative stride.

Your album Full Immersion released in 2020 has such good vibes! How has the response been and is another album in the works?

Yes, we did it! We put so much work into the Full Immersion album over several years to produce what we believe is our next level of musicianship and songwriting. Our fanbase is full of some really supportive people, so they have shown us so much love on that release, and some say it's their daily anthem.

Right now, we're on our single game and will be releasing more of those over the next year, but that will be within the bigger scope of further EP and album releases down the road. At the moment, we're excited to just get some new jams down together and also to collaborate with others to bring out some beauty. Much Love, Much Love, Much Love!
