The Step Beats are breathing new life into our favorite Alternative Rock hits with a reggae twist. We are totally feeling their latest single, Where Is My Mind?, a super smooth reggae-infused version of the Pixies’ classic tune. Dailyreggae.com caught up with The Step Beats to learn more about the band and their new music.

Tell us about the band! We are digging your new singles!

The Step Beats is a rock reggae project focused on bringing back the greatest songs of all time. With members in Saipan and Denver, we are bringing a fresh energy to the rock reggae community. Powerful guitars and smooth vocals take you on a journey through the hits of your youth.

The 1990's Alternative Rock hits album we are working on is being recorded and released in 2022. Look forward to regular releases this year!

What inspires you as musicians?

Rock reggae has a magical way of being groovy yet driving. It's easy to get lost in a good rock reggae arrangement and we specialize in exactly that.

We pull inspiration from the great rock bands: RHCP, Tool, Incubus, Pink Floyd.

How do you produce your music?

We have a very unique music production process. We both (Steve and Tim) have studios in our homes. Steve will use some drum parts that Tim has laid down as a foundation to build and structure songs around and then we'll lay down the vocals, guitar, bass, and keyboards.

After those have been tracked that same session file will be open on Tim's studio rig and Tim will re-record the drum tracks. Then Tim will produce and mix that session file until it is ready for mastering.

Where Is My Mind? by The Step Beats is the Daily Reggae Song of the Day.
