The Pleasure Point Tour makes a stop in Dallas, Texas!
The Expendables brought the Pleasure Point Tour on a four-stop stretch through the Lone Star State, with friends Bumpin Uglies and Claire Wright. The first stop landed them in Dallas, Texas and Daily Reggae was there to cheer them on and capture some moments from the show on a beautiful Wednesday evening at the Granada Theater.
Showtime was quickly approaching as everyone made their way from the merch tables to settle into the space they would call home for the next few hours. Northern California native, Claire Wright took the stage to open the show and spread a little Cali sunshine out into the crowd, and that she did. Acoustic guitar in hand, she stood solo with a beautiful smile and a hat that matched, performing one hell of a set to get Dallas moving their feet. Claire’s slightly smoky voice was smooth as can be as she sang her heart out for all of us, setting the vibe for the night ahead.
After about a half-hour in the spotlight, Wright made her exit and I mingled with friends as the boys from Bumpin Uglies got everything dialed in on stage to rock the house. It wasn’t long before the lights dimmed, and frontman Brandon Hardesty led the Uglies into battle. This was my fourth time seeing these guys on stage, and my fourth time loving every minute of it. Hardesty’s passion was felt in every song while the band gave such an energetic performance beginning to end.
The time was soon upon us, and the crew from Santa Cruz was ready to bring us to Pleasure Point. The audience got loud when everyone appeared on stage, signaling the start of their set and the final act of the night. It doesn’t matter what size venue these guys play, The Expendables always give the same energy as if they were playing a huge festival (and that night was no different). The wonderful Claire Wright joined them on stage and shared a song (she did with Bumpin Uglies as well!) as the party continued well into the evening. I got to hear one of my favorites jams, “Surfman Cometh”, and damn does it sound good live!
The Granada Theater was the perfect host for The Pleasure Point Tour, the place was packed, but not uncomfortable. The night was a huge success in my eyes, and I was glad to see Dallas show up and support this amazing genre of music!
