Daily Reggae Awards: Best Album Nominees

So many incredible reggae albums were released in 2024 and these rose to the top for us. Congratulations to the following artists nominated for the 2024 Daily Reggae Album of the Year!

Ancient Blood, Tribal Seeds: “ Ancient Blood is everything you could ask for as a TS fan (and lots of it). Steven Jacobo’s uniquely smoky voice, the intoxicating bounce of Tony-Ray’s keys, that oh-so-rootsy feel of everything they produce … it’s all packed inside. It’s not all the same old stuff, though. The best part of being a fan of a band over many years is seeing how they experiment with new sounds and styles to keep the vibe fresh for fans, and there’s plenty of that in the mix as well.”

The Gentle Man, Romain Virgo: “Call it more confidence in him than wishful thinking, but being one of the new leaders of the culture, and adeptly furthering the fire that stalwarts like Sanchez, Beres Hammond, and Singing Melody started before he was even born, I have no issue proclaiming Romain Virgo a legend in the making. I implore you to pick up this sunshine on wax called The Gentle Man, and keep it close by as the cold weather cedes into summer madness.“

Nectar of the Gods, Etana: “As an artist, she has remained consistent throughout her musical output, with themes of love, gratitude, and women’s empowerment, and Nectar falls easily into her wheelhouse.”

From Within, Mortimer: “Mortimer’s debut album, From Within, is an intimate display and introduction to the essence of Mortimer. He unapologetically shares his deep musings, using his music to express his personal philosophy on life and how to be.”

Rebel Queen, Yemi Alade: “With a voice befitting of the most beautiful songbird, Nigerian Afro-Pop torch bearer, Yemi Alade has blessed the masses with her latest offering Rebel Queen.”
