Mortimer inspires us to not stray from emotions in “Not A Day Goes By”

Mortimer inspires us to not stray from emotions in “Not A Day Goes By”.

The Jamaican singer-songwriter’s inspiring new single, released by Overstand Entertainment and Easy Star Records, touches on the topic of mental health, and celebrates our right to feel fully versus pushing emotions to the side.

This is such an important song, and we applaud Mortimer for singing about such an important topic.

Reflecting on the song’s inspiration, Mortimer said, “So many times, over generations, we shy away from issues that affect the heart and mind,” Mortimer says. “We create shells in which we dwell. Never truly speaking about the way we feel, because we either didn’t have the freedom to or, for whatever other reasons, we chose not to. I grew up in a ‘men don’t cry’ society; a ‘men don’t express feelings’ society. What was missed is how much this idea has destroyed both man and woman. This has caused heartbreak, depression, anxiety. Broken people that walk among us day-to-day. There’s so much that we all go through daily, so much that is trapped within us that longs to be released.”

Cheers to Mortimer and to tackling these issues with our heads held high!
