JonQuan & Associates have dropped their first single in advance of an album release coming this December. Accidental Badman, released via Easy Star Records, is a super irie song with an old school reggae feel. JonQuan teamed up with reggae veteran Carlton Livingston and the song was inspired by a true tale of someone Livingston knew back in the day. JonQuan is best known as the frontman for Buddha Council out of Virginia Beach.

In a press release sent to Dailyreggae.com, JonQuan said, “I was inspired over the pandemic to create my own original riddims to cure the boredom and woes of being off stage and locked down. This is my first project where I produced the riddims myself. I wanted to leave the door open for the players of all other instruments for maximum creative input, but within certain parameters. I personally chose who I wanted to play what instrument on what song. I’m most accustomed to live writing with a band while feeling for a groove.”

JonQuan had backed Livingston before and the two musicians decided to team up to bring Accidental Badman to life.

Victor Rice mixed the track and upcoming album at his Studio Copan, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Each single will have an accompanying dub version from Rice. You can check out Accidental Dubman here.

Accidental Badman by JonQuan & Associates and Carlton Livingston is the Daily Reggae Song of the Day.
