Reggae is healing and helps inspire positivity around the world, and Gaba Groove Music has an incredible story with reggae front and center. Dailyreggae.com caught up with Gaba to learn more about his grooving new song, Happy Friday! We are loving the song’s vibing riddim, smooth guitar, drums, and Gaba Groove’s message of carrying weekend vibes throughout our life each day. Happy Friday! features Blaine Dillinger, Andrew McKee, Matt Benoit & Bok.Keyz.

Tell us about Happy Friday! and what message you’re sharing.

You know how you are stoked on a Friday because you have the next two days off? I call that the “Friday Vibe,” and it’s a state of mind you can have 24/7, not just on Fridays. Every day can feel like a Friday when I’m grateful, stay in the present, and treat people with love and kindness. Life is good and I don’t need to wait until the weekend to enjoy it.

We love that theme so much. Like Mike Love says, live life on a permanent holiday! Tell us about your journey as a musician and your love of reggae.

I went to law school, put down my guitars, got 100k in student loan debt, got the “dream” job, because that’s what I was told to do, and my soul was the price I paid and ended up putting a gun to my head. So I quit that “dream” job and took a leap of faith that made my life happier.

I started listening to reggae music at “The Joint” on SiriusXM radio exclusively. The connection I felt with the fat bass lines, guitar and piano skanks, organ bubble shuffles, and groovy drum beats, instantly brought me back to the first CD I ever bought, UB40’s Labour of Love, and I fell in love again with reggae. So, I picked my guitar back up and started writing songs about love and kindness, made it a goal to treat people with love and kindness, and my life has never felt better. My goal is to surround myself with positive, kind, and loving people who share the same message. So far, they have helped me become a better person, one that I actually like. So grateful for their love, as I would not be alive without it.

Happy Friday! by Gaba Groove Music is the Daily Reggae Song of the Day.
