Daily Reggae Album Review: “Some Kinda Madness” highlights Tanya Stephens’ soulful lyrics and amazing voice

Jamaica’s Tanya Stephens’ new album, “Some Kinda Madness” is absolutely brilliant and highlights her soulful lyrics and amazing voice. 

Take “Be Who We Be” the album’s first track. The song has a simple acoustic guitar and Tanya’s voice accompanies the guitar so nicely while sharing a message of belief in ourselves. It’s a reoccurring theme heard across the album highlighting the importance of trust and love.

Tanya’s vocals shine again in “Intervention”, which has an irie bass line, lovely guitar and a message of staying humble. 

Get the party started by turning up Tanya Stephen’s “Zig Ziggler”. I love the song’s island feel and drum pattern. Tanya sings about bringing the best of each other out! I love this important message. Tanya is an expert at singing in perfect harmony and energy to a riddim and this track is a perfect example. 

The instrumentation in “Not Today” is super irie. I love the bass line and horns on this track. Tanya sings about a day of focus where nothing can get in her way! Much respect. I love the set up and execution of this song. 

Tanya lets loose in “Blame It on Rock & Roll” a song about a fun night out. The guitar solo mid song shreds and this track shows off Tanya’s versatility as an artist. 

Slow down and feel the pace in “Feels Like Love”. I love this song’s message about connection and vibing.
