Catching the tail-end of the sizzling Texas summer heat, the Slightly Dirty Summer Tour 2024 made its way across the state, stopping in Dallas at the Toyota Music Pavilion for an amazing showcase of live music.
The weather threatened rain (and we sure could use it), but the skies held out long enough for us to get our fix of some of the scene’s hottest bands on a muggy, Friday evening in north Texas. Fans started packing in as soon as the doors opened, and the music started promptly at scheduled hour!
KBong and Johnny Cosmic (from the “up-and-coming” band, Stick Figure…) spearheaded the performance for the early arrivals, putting smiles on every face in the place. These two have an infectious synergy that have made the splinter-group a staple act amongst the genre they tour within. They understood the assignment and pumped the place full of good vibes to kick off the night's festivities.
The frontwoman of the next act flawlessly performed her entire set with two heartbeats! It’s no surprise Patricia Jetton of HIRIE is expecting the gift of life soon, posting the news of finding out it’s a boy just 12 hours before the show. The two soothed and fired up the crowd all in the same set, while Blaine and the boys high-stepped their way into the hearts of DFW.
Dusk soon settled in, timed perfectly for the spectacular light and laser display from the Slightly Stoopid set in the vast space overhead. The emphasis these folks put on making sure you have the best experience possible at one of their performances is admirable. Kyle and Miles have mastered their stage presence, and give it their all, even when they’re on the last three stops of a grueling tour. Bravo guys!
Capping off the show and the night, ladies and gentlemen, The Dirty Heads. One look around the venue at this point really drives home the following these guys have, even in just one part of Texas. Lawn-seat ticket holders were upgraded to pit access due to possible wet weather, and the influx of concert-goers to the ground level packed the pit. Dirty J and Duddy B commanded the attention for the remainder of the evening, owning the entire stage. The setlist went on forever and the energy from the crowd pulsed through the air as they shut the house down.
There’s no dates left on this epic tour, but hopefully you caught a show. If not, feel free to live vicariously through me in the photo gallery!
