Showcasing one of the smoothest flows in reggae music, Bobby Hustle drops the Side Hustle EP
When you think of musical flow, hip hop and some of today’s best MCs like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole may come to mind. Reggae music is so amazing because it influences and crosses over to touch so many genres of music. Bobby Hustle has without a doubt one of the smoothest deliveries in reggae music today and yesterday dropped his head bumping Side Hustle EP. Hustle teamed up with Iya Terra keyboardist, LuisDreadlocks on the five-song EP’s production and collaborated with Dread Kennedy and The Movement on two of our favorite songs, Cali 101 and Somewhere in the Middle.
In an email sent to Dailyreggae.com, Bobby Hustle said, “To me, Side Hustle represents a few different things. First, it's the way I've survived for years now. Doing a few jobs and making ends meet somehow, rather than having a 9-5. And not just me, it's the way most people in our generation get by. Specifically for the title track of the EP though, it's a double entendre, a play on words. The song is about a woman who works really hard at multiple jobs and she's super driven towards her goals so she doesn't have time for relationships and love games. She keeps a man on the side. And that man is me, haha! So it's a song that bigs up her work ethic, but also pokes fun at the concept of a "side piece" or whatever. You get it?! I thought it was kinda funny and Luis was like, "nah man that's clever and dope!" So we rolled with it! Hope you like it!"
For Peace Band guitarist, Kamaron Quintana supported Side Hustle on guitar, and Nick Loporchio, the bassist of Iya Terra, mastered the EP.
