Roots Makers have teamed with Kapena Mokiao in the new irie love song, “Need You Desperately”. This is such a feel good track and I Iove the old school feel it brings.

Mokiao drops some incredible vocals, and the single’s production is top notch. Also, the song has super nice keys and a guitar solo.

Daily Reggae caught up with the Roots Makers’ DM Kahn to learn more about how the track came together.

“We’ve been working on this track for over a year now! Kapena lives on Oahu, Karigan (reggae drummer), Organiks (keys), and Redjee (guitar) live in France and I live in Canada (bass/mix). It’s been a wonderful labour of love putting this song together.

From a iPhone recording from Kapena to pre-production rounds to the final recording stages, this song came together like a strong tower. This song is different than most you’ll hear because of the strong message of our need for the Almighty. It’s both a warning and a reminder of how much we need the Lord.

Kapena purveys the message through in fine fashion with his gorgeously smoothe 3 part harmonies and the Roots Makers created such a masterful bed of music to lay the message atop. My personal favorite part is towards the end where Kapena does a wonderful early 70s style falsetto 3 part harmony.”
