Photo Recap: Ballyhoo!, Dumpstaphunk, and Ghost Funk Orchestra
Last night was filled with funk, reggae, …..and horse racing.
Ballyhoo!, Dumpstaphunk, and Ghost Funk Orchestra traveled to Charles Town, West Virginia yesterday for the annual horse race and music festival. While the combination made for one of the more unique concerts I have ever been to, the music was far from an afterthought. From start to finish, each band put on absolutely amazing show, and the musicianship was top notch.
Ghost Funk Orchestra started off the night, all the way from New York City. The large band filled the entire stage, bursting with energy and excitement. Even the rain couldn’t stop them from getting fans out of the stands, and over to the stage.
Next up was everyone’s favorite pop-punk reggae band, Ballyhoo!, fresh off the release of their new album Shellshock (read our review here) . They easily pulled the largest crowd of the night, singing and rocking out to every song. The band’s set was tight, and you could tell they were still on the high of the album release. Shout out to guitarist Sebastian, one of the best in the genre and is always a must watch.
Last but not least was Dumpstapunk. The New Orleans band took the stage and reminded everyone why they are legends. The musicianship was unmatched, with every member performing at the absolute highest level. They had the whole crowd singing and dancing till the end of the night with a personal favorite being their cover of Dr. John’s Right Place Wrong Time.
I will be seeing all three of these bands again and suggest you do to if you get the chance.
