When you listen to the album Never Give Up by Dub Drums you hear the passion in JDR’s voice, feel the creative drum beats hit, and are taken into a unique musical experience. The album released on April 11 blends rock, pop, dub with a touch of reggae. We enjoyed vibing to JDR’s passionate songs. Some of the songs are strictly instrumental while others feature JDR singing.

Dailyreggae.com spoke with JDR to learn more about his background as a musician and the inspiration behind the album.

“The inspiration to this new album is that I was grieving and dealing with depression, problems sleeping and more; so I wrote lyrics that would help take the pain away. I really hope that these songs can help others who may be dealing with loss, sadness, addiction, or anything else.”

JDR added, “Dub Dub Drums is not just a source of singer songwriter material. There are also 150 drum grooves that Dub Drums created and sends out to musicians, artists, athletes, and more from across the world to create video collaborations with. Dub Drums hopes that this project will help bring attention to some of the talents that are across the globe. You can find all those collaborations at the Dub Drums YouTube Channel.”

We asked JDR about his background as a musician. “I’ve been playing drums ever since I was a little kid. I had to try out for the fourth grad drums while in third grade and luckily made the cut. My Dad was a drummer and his Dad and his Dad. I’m a fourth-generation drummer. I started playing in bands outside of school when I was in the 8th grade and since then have performed over 1,000 shows in Las Vegas, 2,000 shows across the U.S., and more with bands including Goldfish Don’t Bounce (GDB), One Pin Short, HaleAmanO, and Fortunate Youth.”

It’s really cool to see the passion that JDR puts into his music. Support Dub Drums by purchasing Never Give Up.
