Kxng Izem reminds youth to prioritize knowledge of ‘self, purpose and culture’ over a “Guard Ring”. The Jamaican artist teamed up with Delagroove and Shakespeare of U.E. Records on the single’s production and I really love the song’s guitar riff that rings over the intricate riddim. Daily Reggae connected with Kxng Izem to learn more about the song’s inspiration and message.

“Guard Rings are somewhat celebrated in the grimy culture that the youth so love in Jamaica today. It’s one of the main things sung about in the “trap dancehall” that’s become widespread in the island. As a Rasta and conscious artiste I decided to use the concept of the guard ring and the “trap dancehall'“ sound to put out a conscious message as usual. So the song really talks about the divine intervention and knowledge about self, purpose and culture being more powerful than simply a guard ring.”

Guard Ring” by Kxng Izem is the Daily Reggae Song Of The Day.
