Julian Marley & The Uprising are set to spread positivity across California with their first stop on tour at Music Box SD on June 14. Daily Reggae had the honor of interviewing Julian to learn more about the artist’s irie new album, “Colors of Royal”, what music fans can expect to hear on the tour, and the singer-songwriter’s excitement to kick off the tour at the beautiful Music Box SD venue.

Hey Julian! Your latest album, “Colors of Royal” is a gorgeous body of reggae music! Can fans expect to hear tracks from the album during your upcoming tour? Has it been fun playing songs from the album like “Made For Your Love” to audiences around the world?

Well, this will be the first time performing songs from the “Colors of Royal” and I can’t wait to play them for myself and hope that the fans will love them like how we love them. So, we definitely plan on playing songs from “Colors of Royal”.

It’s so amazing that you’re heading to San Diego to open your tour at the Music Box! Music Box is one of the best concert venues in the country and it’s so cool that you’re playing a show there on June 14! What can fans expect to hear at the show?

It’s great, I can’t wait to get to San Diego. Fans can expect a great show, new songs that fans are getting familiar with, some songs that fans love. For me, it’s going to be a fun time up there doing what we love the best, spreading positivity through music. And spreading the almighty teaching through the music. We cannot wait to be able to come out and see the people, and be there in San Diego. Irie!

Your 2019 album, “As I Am” is one of my favorite albums of recent years, and brings so many good vibes! What can fans expect to hear and feel during this tour? Will you be playing music from your full music catalog?

From the “As I Am” album, we’ll leave that as a surprise. That’s why we want all the fans to come out, and you especially you know (laughs). We will definitely be playing quite a few numbers from all the albums. And definitely “As I Am” as the latest studio album that I put out with the band and production of the roots.

My new album, “Colors of Royal” is a bit different. It’s still flavors that I love and music that I love and are inspired by. We’ll be playing songs from “As I Am”, “Colors of Royal”, “Awake”, “A Time and Place” as well as “Lion In The Morning” you know!
