Talk about a packed house!

The Echo Lounge and Music Hall in Dallas was filled to capacity for a sold-out stop on The Movement’s Winter 2024 Tour, with Mihali kicking the party off. The weather was a bit chilly and showed signs of rain, but one step inside the venue revealed a mass of folks who could care less what the weather was doing – they showed up where they were supposed to be!

Thirty minutes after doors opened, the place was stacking up rapidly with attendees and the merch lines were starting to wrap around the venue’s interior. The crowd wasted no time gathering their libations and swag before finding their way to the floor to claim a spot, knowing the two acts ahead were not the kind you wanted to be stuck in line for when they started the show…

Mihali took the stage and the crowd came alive. There was an uncontainable smile on his face while he prepared to please an eager crowd with a multitude of instruments, having only a  friend with a saxophone sharing the stage with him. The people of Dallas swayed back and forth, raising drinks and singing along to the beautiful music this duo was creating in front of them.

It’s easy to get “in the zone” when photographing a show and sometimes I forget to slow down and take some of it in (I love the bands I shoot!), so I had to put the camera down and just vibe when “Digital Heaven” came pouring out of the PA’s (my favorite song from him!). Mihali held the crowd at peak energy throughout his incredible set, solidifying old fans and creating new ones in the same night.

After the break, the floor packed in tighter and the balcony gaps had disappeared, signaling the time was near for The Movement to surface from backstage and get the party back on track. Joshua Swain soon appeared, sporting a classic black-and-white Adidas tee and that trademark “just woke up” mohawk.

The rest of the crew took their spots on stage and released the first round of tunes to the welcoming sardine-can crowd. The sound system put in overtime as an eighteen-song setlist was pumped through it, only given a slight break during the last three songs. For the encore, chairs were pulled up and the acoustic vibes came out; the perfect way to ease a crowd down and prepare them for the trip to their next destination.

The Movement has been around the scene for quite some time, but they sure seem to have a new momentum behind them. I hope to see them sell out many more shows in the future, they deserve the hell out of it! Mihali was a perfect addition to this tour, and I’m sure the first leg with Jesse Royal on the bill as well was a treat!
