Daily Reggae had the chance to interview the brilliant artist, Romain Virgo about the singer-songwriter’s amazing new single, “Switch You On”, a great run of recent shows in the UK, and new music that he’s excited to release soon.

What’s good Romain?! We are vibing with your new single, “Switch You On” out via VP Records. The track has such feel good and romantic energy.

It’s definitely perfect for any dance floor! What was it like taming with Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett and Matthew “Keely Keyz” Keaveny on the track and where did you record?

Every time I get an opportunity to work with Don it’s just a totally different experience. There’s just always something new to learn from him and there’s just so much more quality and growth to his style of production that makes it even more interesting.

Keely is such an exceptional songwriter, and he understands the exact emotion he wants to bring across in a song so just working alongside two of the best in our industry at the same time is a dream come true.

You just wrapped a great run of shows in the UK. Congrats! What can fan expect to see at your live shows in terms of your performances? Do you play with a live band and what were some of your favorite sets of the tour?

It’s just always great energy on stage everywhere we go. All the members of my band enjoy performing at the highest level every chance we get. Fans should always come out expecting old and new music plus high energy performances. I enjoyed every moment of this UK tour. We got to perform for the first time in Leicester and it caught me by surprise when I saw the jam-packed house of supporters. Safe to say it was a very successful tour because it’s hard to even say which city was my favorite.

Where are your favorite places to write and perform music in Jamaica?

Most of my writing is either done at home or by Lifeline Recording Studio with Niko Browne. I enjoy performing everywhere in Jamaica - it’s very difficult to narrow it down to just a few.

Are you working on a new EP, or album! If so, how is that process going and are you interested in teaming with more artists across the reggae scene in 2024?

I just finished working on an album that I personally know is my best effort thus far and I can’t wait for the world to hear it. It’s always my goal to work with so many of my fellow reggae brothers and sisters, not only in terms of collaborating on record, but also in terms of writing and producing and that’s something I’m looking forward to kick start in 2024.

Your 2018 album, “Lovesick”showcases your incredible voice and abilities as a singer-songwriter. How have you developed as an artist since recording the LP, and where do you want to tour next?

I believe Lovesick opened the doors to exploring a deeper side of me, both emotionally and spiritually and therefore people will be able to hear and feel that with most of the music to come. Hopefully I get to make a return to Europe, Africa and North America in the coming year. I’ve never been to Australia either so hopefully that dream will come true.
