Daily Reggae connected with Lettuce’s Adam Deitch to dive into the band’s exciting momentum including a funky new album on the way and a tour with Ziggy Marley!

Your band beautifully and seamlessly blends so many genres of music! How does the band’s song writing process come together? Does the music come first or words, and does the band have a favorite place to jam these songs to life?

The music, mainly bass and drum groove come first. Once in a while we add words too. Usually guitar, horns or keys play the melody. We all write songs and bring them to the band. We jam at soundcheck before each show and during shows!

We love your 2022 album, “Unify” - it’s a masterclass in funk meets, rock, hip hop, jazz and so much more! What are some of your favorite tracks to jam on-stage?

We seem to play Hawk's Claw a lot. It has a dark mysterious Wu Tang feel that we love.

It’s so rad that you’re touring this summer with Ziggy Marley! Have you been out on tour with him before, and how does reggae influence’s Lettuce’s music?

We've never toured with Ziggy, but we've done some shows with Damian Marley, his brother. We have the utmost respect for reggae and dub music and it's a major influence on our bass heavy sound.

What can you tell us about your new music on the way? Can fans expect to hear more new music in 2024?

We have a new album on the way. It's a super funky album and we can't wait to release it on our own record label "Lettuce Records"!!

We are absolutely vibing to your latest single, “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” (The Sponges Remix)! This track is so funky - what was it like teaming with The Sponges and how will you bring this song to life in your live sets?

We are super stoked on how the Sponges remixed our song. We play the original version live and they play the remix in their DJ sets.
