Daily Reggae spoke with Analea Brown to learn about her collaboration with Kabaka Pyramid, development as an artist from being more focused on songwriting for others, and her new music in the works!

Analea - your latest single, "You" featuring Kabaka Pyramid is so fire! What was it like collaborating with him? It's such a fun love song!

The bro Kabaka was an absolute dream to work with! He’s so talented on top of being so easy to work with, and I think he definitely brought the energy to the song that I was looking for in a feature when I originally wrote it.

Your voice is one of the best in reggae today. How have you developed it over the years and what advice do you have for up-and-coming artists?

Wow thank you - what an amazing compliment! Before I decided to become an artist, I was a full-time songwriter for a few years. I think that recording demos for other people (and in every genre I can think of) really helped me develop my skills as a recording artist. It’s definitely about the delivery to tell a story through music.

How is your new music coming along? Are you working on another album?

Yes, I’m working on another album that I’m so excited about! I don’t have a release date yet, but I think it’s safe to say I cannot wait! This album will definitely be a more intimate look into my thoughts and of course a fusion of the genres I love.

Your 2019 album, "Queendom" is so amazing! When you perform live shows, what are some of your favorites from that album to play live?

I love playing “Rude Bwoy”, “Nuttah Buttah”, and “Turn Up” live - especially “Turn Up“ because I usually bring my 10 year old daughter out on stage to turn up and sing with me. So much fun every time! She’s quite the showman!

Who are some artists that you'd love to collab with in 2023?!

I hope to collab with some bands this year like The Green, Rebelution, Stick Figure, etc.. I’m ecstatic about some collabs that I already have completed with a few people that I grew up listening to! Definitely can’t wait to share those songs with the world!
