Daily Reggae spoke with Algorhythm to learn more about the band’s big time sound, smooth new reggae music, and debut album set to release soon!

Congratulations on all of the success and momentum since launching Algorhythm last year! Coming from three different bands, what originally brought you all together and what is your inspiration in the project?

We got a call from our good friend and now manager, Brandon Pescrille. He’s managed and worked with all three of our other bands.

He wanted to put together a little side project to play parties and do random shows when we had the time. From the day we got together, we immediately felt a very deep musical connection, and ran with it. Our inspiration at this point really comes from each other, our families, the places we've been, and the things we've seen.

Your single "Driftwood" was recently released, and turned out amazing! What is the inspiration behind the song?

That song came to life in the most organic way. We had just arrived at our rental house in Costa Rica, we cracked a couple of beers and took the guitars down to the beach to watch the sunset. We were sitting on a large driftwood log, and we started talking about how cool and perfect it was. We ended up thinking about how a tree could grow and live its entire life, not knowing that one day after it had died, it would be swept out into the ocean, only to come back even more beautiful than before. Within 10 mins of having the conversation, Kyle was singing "take me out, pull me under...”.

We’re very excited to hear that you’re set to release your first album! The fan response to Algorhythm has been major; what can fans expect to hear on this album?

The four of us set out to make an album that we wanted to hear. The songs and music came very organically, in a fun filled way. Majority of the songs were written on our trip to Costa Rica last fall. We tried to make an album that people would want to listen to over and over again. There's elements of reggae, pop, electronic, rock, and blues. Nothing was off the table when it came to making this album. We just wanted it to be good.

It’s so cool that all three of you sing in your music! Do you write your new music together in-person, remote or a bit of both?

A bit of both. We wrote the majority of this album together in Costa Rica back in October. Songs like Good Life, Lost Cause and Black Lights were written via email, and text. We sent around ideas and built the songs up in a very quick and organic way. It's really nice to switch it up like we have been doing, we think it keeps the process refreshing rather than sitting in a studio all day.

It’s rad you’re soon to embark on a fun tour run in Florida with Sensamotion, Vana Liya and Sound Destroyer! What can fans expect and how do you prepare differently for an Algorhythm show?

As we have all toured for years with our other bands, it’s pretty easy to come in and get it rocking immediately. We take pride in making the show as fun and exciting as possible. We’re stoked to be linking up with those bands, and going out on what feels like our first headline tour. We also have a ton of new music we will be debuting at these shows! We really can't wait for these, they are going to be fun!
