Lot 49 display their catchy reggae meets pop sound in the new 12 track album, “Liquor & Coffee”.

The San Francisco-based band highlight their smooth and inviting style of music across the LP, and I love the album’s creative songwriting, production, and heart.

The band is fronted by talented singer-songwriter, Ryan Viera. Viera has an amazing voice, and I  always appreciate his playful lyrics and romantic verses that can automatically bring a smile to your face.

Lot 49 proves yet again that they deserve an even bigger audience, and consistent spin from radio stations around the country.

“Liquor & Coffee” is the band’s second album, following up 2020’s “Deja Vu”, and wow does it impress!

The album showcases Viera’s growth as a vocalist, writer and producer. In fact some of these tracks are so fire that they are amongst the best reggae meets pop tunes that I’ve heard all year.

I had the chance to see Lot 49 play a show with Joey Calderaio in San Diego and remember an audience member turned to me and said I really love these guys’ sound. I nodded in agreement and we enjoyed their solid set that is definitely unique to reggae. Viera’s soulful lyrics are so easy to connect with and the band’s pop like sound creatively ties together reggae and rock.

Speaking of Calderaio, the LP has some amazing features like fellow Florida reggae rocker, Sierra Lane, J. Lately, and Kruel Summer.

It’s so awesome seeing Lot 49’s growth and identity as band and you really feel that in the album’s new tracks that drop so smoothly with irie bass lines, upbeat drum patterns, and well timed guitar riffs. The band has been playing more shows and has earned it spot opening for reggae rock giants like The Expendables.

I recommend you give the full album a listen from start to finish, but if you’re currently jumping across your music catalog then start with these three.

“We Ain’t Looking Back” showcases Viera’s silky vocals and lyrics that will immediately catch your attention over a beat that deserves to be on loop. This tune doesn’t really sound like anything else I’m hearing right now - and that speaks to Lot 49’s genre crossing abilities. You can add it to your date night or party playlist; pretty impressive that the song can range across those feels.

Lot 49 teams with another rising star, Sierra Lane in the love duet, “Malibu”. This song has such a drop everything and hit the road for weekend fun feel. Lane has an amazing voice and throws down a fire verse. Ryan matches her energy and vocal delivery over the impressive beat. This is a song that is prime for radio play and one that can bring in even more listeners to reggae!

The last track that I’ll note is “San Francisco Summer” featuring Calderaio. I spent the last week in San Francisco and had lots of quality time with Karl the Fog, so it’s especially hitting right now! This song is absolutely rad on so many levels. Once again Lot 49 and Viera drop an infectious beat while blending a gorgeous melody and clever wordplay that will brighten your day.

Lot 49 needs to be on your radar as they are doing an amazing job of writing and producing fun and relatable music that blend fan favorite genres. So, whether you’re a coffee person, you enjoy liquor at the end of the night, or are somewhere in between, turn on this album and I think you’ll be blown away by the rising band’s vibe.
