Album Review: Get the party started with Through The Roots’ “TTR”

Through The Roots is one of my favorite reggae bands and they continue to push themselves to evolve their sound and produce good vibe music. The band’s latest album “TTR” is a perfect example of their creativity, top tier production and all around fun music. This album is going to help us extend summer all year long!

I Iove the way Through The Roots blends reggae, rock, pop and hip hop influenced riddims. Frontman Evan Hawkins writes super catchy lyrics and the song “Hot Damn” is a perfect example of his memorable flows. Turn this one up and the party will get instantly started!

The “Delivery” riddim is so fire. We love to catchy drum beats on this album and the addition of Calvin Canha to the band is strongly felt. Walshy Fire’s verse is on point and you have to watch Through The Roots’ hilarious music video for this standout track.

The band goes from a fast tempo to a relaxing groove in “Hypnotizing” and I love Hawkins’ visual lyrics and the irie bass line. This will be a fun one to hear at a Through The Roots concert.

Call on Me” is another great example of Through The Roots’ amazing ability to blend genres and bring simple but powerful love songs to life. Radio stations please play this song asap!

Speaking of love songs, I love the energy of “Can’t Stand Up” and the featuring of Just Liv and Zac Jone$. The song reminds me of the energy of Through The Roots’ 2020 album, “Departure”, another master class on collaboration in the reggae community.

Through The Roots’ reggae music catalog is diverse and the band’s contribution to reggae rock is strongly felt. We cannot wait to hear the band perform these new jams on the road!
